Briarcliff High School senior Matt Scheck has a passion for baking, which he has pursued through the Northern Westchester BOCES Culinary Arts program for the past three years.“He is a gifted baker and has often shares his treats to the delight of all the recipients,” said BHS teacher Nancy Crosby. “As part of a community service project, Matt wanted to do something for the community using his talents as a baker.”
Schneck, who knew his culinary program final exam involved baking and decorating a wedding cake, decided to donate the bottom layer of the cake to Briarcliff High School’s staff as a thank you for all the help he has received from them over the years.“On May 28, the PTA hosted a luncheon for the staff, and Matt’s cake was included on the dessert table,” said Crosby. “His cake received rave reviews from everyone who had a piece.”
Schneck plans to attend Johnson and Wales College in Providence, Rhode Island, this fall, and eventually hopes to become a master baker.
